Ghana’s first female Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare has expressed optimism that the incoming New Patriotic Party Administration will sail through with her leading the backroom staff.
The Former Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon made this known after the president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo named his administrative Staff at the presidency who are expected to start work immediately on the 7th of January 2017.

The President-elect made the announcement on the 4th of January 2017 ahead of his official inauguration at his residence in Nima.
Many have expressed joy at the choice of a female as the country’s next Chief of Staff, and the 60-year-old legislator has promised to deliver.
“I think most people who have worked with know I’m quite tough. They also know that I work hard, they also know that I like people to respect systems and processes because you lead an organised office, you lead an office that is professionally run.
“I’m trained for that, I’ve worked both nationally and internationally, and I know that I can deliver that. When it comes to toughness...When it comes to delivery, you have to deliver and I’m sure that with that people skills and strict business-like approach to my work, we will sail through,” she told Accra-based Citi FM.
The other appointees are:
- Chief of Staff - Frema Osei Opare
- Secretary to the President - Nana Asante Bediatuo
- Frances Asenso Boakye – Deputy Chief of staff
- Samuel Abu Jinapor – Deputy Chief of staff
- Hassan Ahmed – Director of State Protocol
- Eugene Arhin – Director of Communications
- Lord Commey – Director of Planning/Operations
The President-elect also named three personnel who will be in charge of National Security
- Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Okyere – National Security advisor
- Joshua Kyeremeh (former BNI boss) – National Security Coordinator
- Albert Kan-Dapaah – Minister-designate for National Security
Parliament will have to approve the list of the presidential staffers and the minister designate for National Security will be vetted and approved by parliament.
