The Minister designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba has said that she will ensure ‘babies with sharp teeth’ are removed from the media in order to sanitise the media space.

This was a response she gave to a question asked by a member of the appointment committee Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. Ablakwa asked her what she will do to sanitise the media since children have easily have access to the media than before.

“We must expunge babies with sharp teeth from our system,” she said.

“It is important that we use language that is not insulting, that is temperate and will help us build a nation.”

The statement ‘Babies with sharp teeth’ was first used by former president John Rawlings to describe some members in the former Mahama-led government who destructively used their ‘sharp teeth’ to bite ruthlessly at some members of the party who worked tirelessly to ensure the NDC came to power, thus causing those aggrieved persons to respond in equal manner and consequently breeding divisions in the party.
