Mahama among the finest in the world - Sam George

Sam George said President John Mahama's address at the UN was not just a “hollow piece of fine writing. It was deep and it went to the heart of the matter.”

Presidential staffer, Sam George has greatly commended the President for the bold speech he delivered at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly earlier this week.

He indicated that President John Mahama’s speech was not just a “hollow piece of fine writing. It was deep and it went to the heart of the matter.”

The President this week addressed the 70th UN General Assembly meeting where he touched on a wide range of issues including the on-going refugee crisis in Europe, the green revolution, girl child education as part of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), among others.

Last year, President Mahama in a similar address called for world support to help Africa fight the deadly Ebola outbreak and according to Sam George, “this year’s speech actually outdid last year’s speech because if you look at the delivery, the content, I mean the courage and the scope.

“…so when it comes to delivery; the President is in a league of his own and he is among the finest of this world,” he touted.

The Presidential staffer who is contesting the Ningo Prampam Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) noted that “there were times when the entire general assembly erupted in rapturous applause because heads of state and leaders of government delegations sitting in there including the heads of the supposed super power nations; Obama, Vladmir Putin – the message went straight to them.”

He stressed that President Mahama is someone “the world listens” because of his “posture and the things he pushes forward” and this, he said, was indicative that “we [Ghanaians] have a gem.”

Buttressing his point with examples on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Sam George pointed out that President Mahama's advice to United States to lift the embargo placed on Cuba was adhered to by President Obama.

According to him, the President in his submission did not only speak about issues but also, he proffered solutions “so it wasn’t just a talk shop.”
