NDC gaining notoriety for spreading falsehood - Afenyo Markin

He launched the scathing attack on the party after NDC MPs made misleading comments that 1.5 billion cedis has been allocated to the office of the president, that the one-district-one-factory policy was plagiarised and that the government has no blueprint for the factory project.

His comments follow claims by the MP for Keta, Richard Quarshiegah, that the NPP plagiarised the idea of one-district-one-factory.

He said earlier, Mr Okudzeto had claimed that "the office of government machinery alone is taken GHC1.5 billion. But what he failed to say or tell Ghanaians was that in that 1.5 billion, is only Ghc550 million that is going to general administration" at the presidency.

On claims of plagiarising the one-district-one-factory, he quizzed: "copied what?"

He continued: "We are addressing issues of true business development and an allocation has been made for that.

"We are addressing issues of one-district-one-factory, water for all project, one village one dam, Zongo Development Fund. We are saying that all these things are aimed at creating jobs, giving people opportunities at the grassroots including the one million per constituency fund annually.

On claims the government has no blueprint for the district industrialisation project, Mr Markin wondered why the government will budget for a project it has no blueprint.

According to him, the claim was stated with "mischief."

"The first step to be taken is to commit to it implementation. That is why the government in it financial statement has given a clear indication," he said.

"Don't forget there are ministers responsible for all these initiatives therefore why the rush. If somebody has already committed funds to doing something, why then do you jump the gun to say that there is no blueprint," he quizzed.

"With the greatest of respect if I commit GHC430 million into realising my vision of creating one-district-one-factory, you are saying that I have done nothing?

"Why don't you give me the opportunity to implement it? The implementation goes with the blueprint that he is talking about."
