"We have also made excellent progress on the long term solution to the turret issue, with the Jubilee Partners deciding that the optimum way forward is to spread moor the FPSO," Heavey said in the company’s trading and operational update report.

Although gas and oil production continued, it was under a revised operating and off-take procedures.

It was placed on "heading control" through the use of tugs which minimise vessel movement around the bearing.

Tullow said new operating procedures, including the use of a dynamically-positioned shuttle tanker (capacity of 250,000 barrels of oil) and a storage tanker (capacity of 1 million barrels of oil), are being implemented to assure safe production and off-take operations.
