The Executive Director of the Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) Professor Emmanuel Gyimah-Boadi has said he is not interested in succeeding Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan as the chairman of the Electoral Commission.

The CDD boss said he has a lot on his plate and cannot take up the electoral body’s job, however, he said he feels honored to have been linked with the position.

“I am flattered by it but I just want to put on record that I do not aspire to that position; I am not available for that position,” Prof. Gyimah-Boadi told Citi FM.

“Even in the event that it is offered, I shall turn it down,” he stated. “I am occupied, I have too many things to do.”

Prof. Gyimah-Boadi heads the Afrobarometer research projects in 35 countries. He opined he is content with his current job and would not want to add to it.

“I’m still doing top international governance and democracy advising [and] I am satisfied enough with what I do.”

Other names have also come up for the position. They include the Executive Director of governance think-tank IDEG Dr Emmanuel Akwetey, Deputy Chairman of Electoral Commission Amadu Sulley, and the chairman of the World Cup Commission Justice Senyo Dzamefe.
