"Any day and time that I hear Dofoyena speaking about the problems in the party on radio, I will petition the president to sack you from office. "
The district chief executive for the Ahanta West district in the Western region, Joseph Dofoyena who has been reinstated after the president sacked him from office in February this year has been warned not to ever speak on radio or else he will be sacked again.
He was reinstated following several petitions to the presidency and the local government ministry by the chiefs and people of Ahanta who opposed the decision to sack him.
“He is a true son of Ahantaland. He is respectful, hardworking, easily approachable and we have seen no wrong doing on his part. We want the president to reconsider his decision”. Nana Etsin Kofi II, chief of Ahanta Aboadze told Pulse.com.gh.
Shortly after his endorsement the Western regional minister Paul Evans Aidoo cautioned the DCE not to say a word on radio unless he is tauting government's achievements
“Nana Kwesi Agyemang, acting president of the Western Regional House of Chiefs and other respected chiefs present as well as all assembly members should be my witness that, any day and time that I hear Dofoyena speaking on radio about the problems in the party on radio, I will petition the president to sack you from office. Speak about only the development of the Ahanta West District on radio and not anything else”.
History behind his dismissal
Following his appointment in June 2013, the Member of Parliament for the Ahanta West Constituency George Kwame Aboagye accused him of sabotaging his work. In 2012 Joseph Dofoyena supported George Kwame Aboagye’s contender Lawyer Sam Payin Yalley in the NDC parliamentary primaries. In 2015, the MP, George Kwame Aboagye who had openly vowed on radio to get him out of office got his desire when Joseph Dofoyena was sacked by the president John Dramani Mahama with no stated reason for his exit.
His exit, which had obviously surprised many party executives and sympathizers in the Ahanta West constituency led to the creation of factions.
The president after nine months re-nominated Joseph Dofoyena for the post of DCE for the district for the second time. After his re-nomination by the president, the Member of Parliament for the Ahanta West Constituency, George Kwame Aboagye who was criticized for being the brain behind his exit openly vowed on various radio stations in Accra and Takoradi to resign from his seat as MP if the president did not rescind his re-nomination. He polled 34 out of 51 in last Friday’s assembly elections held on the 18th of December 2015.
