Kwesi Pratt flays NPP over Adams Mahama’s acid attack

Two men poured acid on the regional chairman of the party, Adams Mahama, when he was returning from his construction site late last night

Kwesi Pratt Jnr says the LMVCA demonstration was needless

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has described the attack on the Upper East regional chairman of New Patriotic Party (NPP) as irresponsible.

Two men poured acid on the regional chairman of the party, Adams Mahama, when he was returning from his construction site late last night.

According to Mr. Adam’s aide, Zakariah Osman, the NPP chairman was in his car when he was stopped by two unidentified persons, and in an attempt to inquire the reason why he was stopped, they poured the substance on him.

The regional chairman was rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital where he lost his life.

Reacting to this on Adom FM’s morning show, Mr. Pratt Jnr wondered what could have warranted the act.

“What did he do to deserve this? I listened to an interview with a party member who said the act was fuelled by some party members. I cannot confirm that. However, if people can do this internally, then bullets will fly when we get to national politics. Why can’t we use our energy to think of how to solve the erratic power supply, depreciation of the cedi and so on? We are destroying the peace we have with politics. What is this?” he queried.

He added that the situation has got to this extent because nobody has been prosecuted for being involved in any unscrupulous act within any political party.

“There has never been a time where people engaged in some of these acts arrested and had been prosecuted. They always say, ‘this is a party issue’ and the case dies. Can you imagine! If someone had been prosecuted for any wrong doing, things of such nature would not have happened. For how long can we be this irresponsible in this country?” he wondered.

The ace journalist called for proper investigations so as not to make innocent people suffer.
