NPP, NDC supporters clash in Brong Ahafo

Military personnel have moved to restore peace at Sankore in the Brong-Ahafo Region following clashes between NDC and NPP.

Armed police and military personnel have been deployed to the Brong Ahafo Region town of Sakore, following bloody clashes between the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party.

The supporters of the two political parties attacked each other with clubs and machetes last Monday.

One Kwame Fosu, 27, also known as Kwame Macho, according GNA reports, suffered multiple cutlass wounds and was rushed to the Goaso Government Hospital.Assemblyman for Sakore North, Stephen Akowua, said the reason behind the clashes was unknown, but said majority of young men have fled the town.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Patrick Adusei-Sarpong, the Deputy Regional Police Commander, said calm has returned to the town.

He said no arrests have been made but assured the people that the police would investigate and prosecute the perpetrators.
