3 dead, nine houses burnt in Bunkprugu Yunyoo clashes

The latest clashes follows the death of two men in Bunkprugu Yunyoo.

Three persons have been reported dead and nine houses burnt in Bunkprugu Yunyoo in the Northern region after two families clashed Monday morning over a renewed chieftaincy dispute.

Reports in the town indicate that the Jamong family, which is claiming title to the Bunkpurugu Skin, has come under attack from the ruling Jafok family.

Police in the Northern region have begun investigations into what caused the death of two men in Bunkprugu Yunyoo.

The bodies of the two were found in a bush after being reported to have gone missing last Friday.

Superintendent Steven Deplaporte with the Northern regional Police command told Accra-based Starr FM, physical examination on the two bodies reveal they may have been struggling with each other.

“It was late when we received the report, so the following day, we organised a search party and they followed to the bush and after a search, the bodies were discovered; which suggested that they died through struggling. So it is not a shooting incident but investigations have begun,” he said.
