Accra streets named after fruits and vegetables

A walk in the capital by Pulse.com.gh revealed that some streets have been named after vegetables and fruits.

Everyone remembers the street they lived on as kids. Even now, going back to common tree name road or pick a number between one and ten street would conjure up flashbacks of many a knee scraping or dead animal poking.

Not every street name is nostalgia-friendly, however, and there are some people out there who would prefer being falsely listed as ‘homeless’ instead of revealing their true addresses.

In the capital city of Accra, proposed names have been given to 3,584 streets within the Greater Accra metropolis by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

This was done in collaboration with its stakeholders, including traditional leaders, religious leaders, civil societies, business entities, educational institutions and political leaders.

A walk in the capital by Pulse.com.gh revealed that some street names have been named after vegetables and fruits.

There are those who feel these names are excellent because they are easy to remember and others who believe the names are of no relevance.

Here are the names of some streets in the metropolis; Pawpaw street, Potato avenue, Water melon street etc.
