Executives deny passing vote of no confidence

According to a statement signed by the Deputy Regional Organiser, Regional Research Officer and Ketu South Constituency Chairman, the decision was taken unilaterally by the regional chairman, Peter Amewu

Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong

Some Volta Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have debunked media reports that they had unanimously passed a vote of no confidence in the party's Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.

According to a statement signed by the Deputy Regional Organiser, Regional Research Officer and Ketu South Constituency Chairman, the decision was taken unilaterally by the regional chairman, Peter Amewu. They have therefore cautioned that “his actions are basis for "VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE and possible IMPEACHMENT.”

Below is the full statement:

We the undersigned Regional Executive Members of the New Patriotic Party from Volta Region are saddened and completely befuddled at a news item attributed to Joy FM to the effect that "VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE" was unanimously passed at a joint Regional Executive and Constituency Chairmen meeting held at Ho, on May 25, 2015. Which seek to give credence to an alleged "VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE" passed by the Regional Executives and Constituency Chairmen against National Chairman and the General Secretary of the NPP.

We collectively wish to debunk this assertion as vicious, duplicitous designed to commit administrative fraud thus, deepens internal division within Volta NPP at a time when rank and file need peace  and unity to prosecute election 2016 with single purpose and collective interest. That at no point in time during our deliberations at regional meeting where an issue of "VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE" was tabled or was there an instance when National Chairman and the General Secretary were impugned with criminality abetment of crime with regard to the tragic demise of our colleague, the late Regional Chairman of Upper East Region.

We wish to state emphatically that what had happened to our late compatriot, Mr. Mahama Adams is a tragedy which bordered on criminality hence, we expect all members of the elephant fraternity to exercise maximum restraint and allow state investigative bodies to do their professional work. However, anybody who has information as to who the perpetrators are, should make that information available to the police to quicken the pace of its investigation.

Unilateral actions frequently embarked by our Regional Chairman is calculated to fragment the party in the Volta Region.  Removal of National Executives are not within the remit of the Regional Chairman, Mr. Peter Amewu and few others. And that press statement he issued to JOY FM was purely deceptive stratagem to throw dust into the eyes of discerning members of the party and by so doing portray Volta NPP in bad light. We therefore enjoin the Regional Chairman to desist from unconstitutional illegalities in order to save the Party from further turmoil.

We wish to further remind the Mr. Amewu that his actions are basis for "VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE and possible IMPEACHMENT.
