The Ghana Ports and Habours Authority (GPHA) and Meridian Ports Services, a joint venture between Bolloré Africa Logistics, APM Terminals have signed a 1.5 billion dollar agreement for the expansion of the Port of Tema.

GPHA signs $1.5bn agreement to expand Tema Port
The expansion project which is scheduled to be completed in three years includes plans for the potential construction of additional terminal facilities, including bulk, liquid bulk and general cargo terminals, as global trade with Africa continues to accelerate.

By virtue of this project, along with the trust we place in Ghana's emerging economy, we extend our commitment through a major project that will help bridge Ghana's economy to the outside world under the most favourable conditions," said Philippe Labonne, CEO Bolloré Africa Logistics.
According to the Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor who witnessed the signing in Accra, the project will enhance the efficiency of the Port.The Minister for Transport, Dzifa Attivor who witnessed the signing in Accra said the project will enhance the efficiency of the Port and make it more competitive.It will also provide employment for more than three thousand Ghanaians, officials say.In a separate project, APM Terminals and Bolloré Africa Logistics will upgrade the current highway between Accra and Tema to a six-lane modern highway along with improved connecting roads and access point to enhance the movement of cargoes into and out of the port of Tema and the hinterland.
