Over 30 people have been rendered homeless at Agbogbloshie in the Odododiodioo constituency.

This follows violent clashes between Konkombas and Dagombas in the area on Tuesday.

“A lot have been made homeless… Yesterday, if I tell you the number of people who were in my office asking me to look for temporary accommodation for them, you’ll have no idea, especially women and children. I had over 30 of them in my office. Some of them I got my party executives to host them, some of them we had no option but to get them into a motel for a night and see what will happen today. It’s been difficult for me,” he told Accra-based Class FM.

“For some time now after the elections, I sensed some danger. A number of people who were brandishing weapons in the area was alarming. So there have been attempts to draw the attention of the police to it. The police did well through the instrumentality of the Ministry of Interior and also the IGP. They started some road blocks and also did some patrols on the main road. But the community is a bit away from the main road. What you see at the front is the shops, but the community is behind and I thought the police would maintain a much stronger presence, they would do much more patrols within the community, have one or two armoured vehicles, crowd control vehicles and things there, but that couldn’t happen. So whatever happened is just unfortunate and it has led to two deaths and many injuries,” he said.
