25-yr-old ABUSCO student commits suicide

Awuku hanged himself on a mango tree at Suhum in the Eastern region Thursday morning

 

A 25-year-old form two student of the Abuakwa State College (ABUSCO), Frank Awuku, has committed suicide.

Awuku hanged himself on a mango tree at Suhum in the Eastern region Thursday.

According to the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Yaw Nketiah-Yeboah, the deceased, was found on a mango tree.

He said "The Suhum Police had information at about 6:00am on August 27, 2015 that the deceased, Frank Awuku, an old student of Kibi Secondary Technical has hanged himself behind a local Islamic primary school. The police immediately proceeded to the scene and found that the deceased hanged on a mango tree with a table and kitchen stool under him."

He said the deceased lived with his grandmother at Suhum.

The Suhum Police have began investigations into the matter and will transfer the body to the Police Hospital in Accra for further investigations.

But according to the family, Awuku sung dirges a day before he committed the act. It is unclear why he killed himself.
