Awards ceremony slated for August 14, 2015 at the AICC

The 2015 Television Awards Ghana has finally been scheduled for August 14, 2015 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Our attention has been drawn to media publications claiming we (Showtyme Motion Pictures Ltd.) organisers of Television Awards Ghana do not have the right to organise the event with the said event name (TELEVISION AWARDS GHANA).

We wish to state categorically that the event is called TELEVISION AWARDS GHANA. This year, the Dinner & Industry Awards shall be held at the Best Western Premier Hotel on 8th August 2015 with the climax, the Primetime Awards coming off on the 14th of August, 2015 at the ACCRA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTRE, ACCRA, GHANA.

However, with reference to information running on the various media platforms, we wish to state that we received notice dated 18th June 2015 from the lawyer of one Sole Proprietor by name “Television Awards”. The letter stated that the said name is an event organising company registered in Ghana and they “Television Awards” are asking us (Showtyme Motion Pictures Ltd) to desist from using the name Television Awards Ghana.  We again received another notice from this same entity through their lawyers after our event was launched on the 30th June at the Best Western Premier Hotel.

We referred the notice to our lawyers and they have replied them appropriately.

We wish to state that, if the said Sole Proprietor by name “Television Awards” claiming to have been registered as a business entity in Ghana has any issue with our event, THEY CAN GO TO COURT FOR CLARIFICATION.

Again, Showtyme Motion Pictures Ltd. is organising TELEVISION AWARDS GHANA and NOT “Television Awards” as stated by a Sole Proprietor claiming to have the said name.

Please be informed our doors are always opened for further clarification on the matter.

KINDLY NOTE: The planning committee has concluded reforms based on feedback from all stakeholders. Appointments by stakeholders for Faculty Membership is 90% complete with all units moving to implementation of plans to consolidate gains made in 2014. In partnership with the Ministry of Communications and other partners, the second edition of TELEVISION AWARDS GHANA will serve as a launch pad for public education on Ghana’s migration to digital terrestrial broadcasting and thus we call on all to support this laudable initiative.

Find attached, details of the notice received and response from our Lawyers as well as a detailed rollout plan for the 2015 event.
