President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has placed a ban on his ministers and other appointees from buying a state vehicle.
Speaking to the media at the Peduase Lodge in the Eastern Region on Monday, he said officials leaving government will not purchase state cars allocated to them.

"These are difficult times for the Ghanaian people. The policy that has worked so far which is running into a lot of problems because of the way it has been abused, which is that officials can buy official cars, that policy will no longer work. No official is going to have the opportunity to buy his official car. So we put an end to it," Nana Addo said.

His comment comes at the back of controversy surrounding missing cars at the Office of the President.
The Director of Communications Eugene Arhin earlier announced that 200 official vehicles from the State pool at the Flagstaff House cannot be accounted for.

The president told journalists that the practice where government officials are allowed to purchase state vehicles when leaving office is no more.
