The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) on Wednesday announced the cancellation of five papers in the ongoing BECE on the basis that they have been compromised. They are Papers 2 of English Language, Religious and Moral Education, Integrated Science Mathematics and Social Studies.

Speaking at the 18th annual Chief Justices Mentoring Session in Accra on Thursday, the Chief Justice advised all not to engage in exam malpractice as the act has a negative implication on the country.

“You are the future leaders of this country, please make use of the best opportunities that have been offered to you.

“It’s very distressing news that students will go and either through parents or through peer pressure, look for questions so that they can cheat. If you do that, you are hurting yourself. We are looking for selfless leaders and that starts, I believe also, from when you are writing exams. So you say, no to your friend who tells you we can make it through the easy way out,” she advised.

Meanwhile three students and seven others are currently in police custody over the leaked papers. The students were arrested for allegedly possessing some of the leaked papers while the seven others were rounded up in Kumasi in the Ashanti region for allegedly aiding in the fraud.
