Asante Kotoko’s leading scorer in the First Capital Plus Premier League, Ahmed Toure made the headline for the wrong reason as he missed from the spot kick to deny his side a famous away win against Medeama who have been unbeaten at home this season.

The home team enjoyed greater part of the ball possession in the first 45 minutes but failed to create clear goal scoring opportunities in the half.

Resumption from the half time break, Kotoko made an incursion upfront with Ahmed Toure beating his marker and with Muntari Tagoe to beat the goalie stood tall to save the situation.

The game was more of midfield battle with Hans Couffie dominating play for Medeama.

Despite Tarkwa lads being slightly ahead of the league champions, the best chance of the day fell the way of Kotoko, when the centre referee awarded a penalty in their favour, but Ahmed Toure’s resultant spot kick flew over the bar to give the home team a big  sigh of relief.

Medeama have therefore gone 11 home games this season without a defeat:  have won 7 and have drawn 4.

Kotoko are still undefeated in the hands of Medeama in the league since, they beat Kotoko in 2010 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as Kessben fc.

However, they are yet to beat Kotoko, after the name of the club was changed to Medeama SC in the second half of the 2010/11 league season.
