Presby Ghana Condemns 'Demonic' US Branch Over Homosexuality

Rev Prof Emmanuel Martey has condemned the US branch of the church for accepting same-sex marriages.

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Rev Prof Emmanuel Martey has condemned the US branch of the church for accepting same-sex marriages.

Describing the decision as “demonic”, the moderator vowed the Ghana branch will not accept the act because it is total “deviation from Bible principles.”

“They are developing a strategy to sidetrack the church. We condemn what they have done. We have parted relationship with them,” Rev Prof Martey said.

The 1.75 million-member Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) updated its constitution to recognise same-sex marriage this week.

Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) approved the ordination of gay pastors, elders and deacons in 2011, which led to many conservative congregations leaving the denomination.

Rev Prof Martey told Joy FM that it is against Bible principles to allow the practice in the church, describing the US Presbyterian Church as an institution that does not believe in the Bible.

“It is only the church... the true church that Satan is afraid of. Satan is not afraid of United States army or any other army. It is only the church…the church of Christ,” he added.
