According to the workers, they have still not received their salaries after several promises by government to ensure payment in 2013.

Over two thousand workers of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) have indicated they will picket at the Ministry of Finance Monday over delay in their salary arrears.

The workers embarked on a similar exercise in August to demand the payment of their salaries but later suspended the action due to an assurance by the Chief Director of the finance ministry to pay them.

One of the aggrieved workers, who spoke on condition of anonymity said their salaries have been in arrears for about 30 months.

“We are going to picket at the Ministry of Finance to demand for our salaries that have been in arrears for 30 months. Last year December we went for our biometric exercise but we have still not received a single penny  of our salary," he told Accra-based Citi Fm.

The worker added that all efforts to get their money have proved futile.

"We are living in a rented apartment and we need to fulfill some financial obligations…The Ministry of Finance said he has given the clearance but yet still we have not received the money. We want to send a clear signal to them,” he said.
