K'Poly student dies during struggle with armed robbers

Thomas Agyapong, a resident of Ayigya, was said to be studying together with some friends in a house at Ayigya behind the Nwabiagya Rural Bank when the incident occurred.
 
 

A 21-year old first year student of Kumasi Polytechnic met his untimely death last Wednesday dawn when he tried to wrestle with a suspected armed robber.

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ransford Nsiah told Graphic.com.gh,  the deceased was working on a laptop belonging to one of the KNUST students when the intruders entered the house in which the deceased and his friends were occupying.

In his struggle with the suspected armed robber, he got shot in the throat by the intruder who later absconded.

According to the police, the gun shot woke the other occupants of the room up who rushed him to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Nothing was taken from the scene, police have indicated.

Police have however began investigations into the incident.
