Gifty Anti issues rejoinder to story on contemplating suicide due to peer pressure

POINT OF CORRECTION SIR/MADAMMy attention has been drawn to an article published by ghanaweb.com, quoting your website, pulse.com.gh as its source.The said story with a headline "I nearly committed suicide - Gifty Anti", purported that I, GIFTY Anti told Anita Erskine, host of The One Show on Viasat 1, that I nearly committed suicide due to peer pressure.I will like to categorically state that this report is absolutely false. Though I was on the said programme on 28th June, 2015, at no point did Anita Erskine even ask me about my growing up days and neither did I talk about my growing up days or how I was affected by peer pressure. There was no point during the interview did I mention that "I nearly committed suicide".As a trained journalist myself, who has been in this industry for over 18 years, I do understand that we do make mistakes sometimes.I therefore, hope that you will correct this mis-reportage and also ensure that the other websites that picked up the story from you will also do same.I look forward to us working together to better our journalism,/media/blogging profession so the younger ones can also get it right.Thank you for your cooperation.

As the writer of the said story, I render an unqualified apology to Ms. Gifty Anti for the mis-reportage.

I actually watched “The One” show hosted by Anita Erskine on Viasat 1 on Sunday, June 28, 2015 but during the interview, I went out to attend to an emergency call.

When I came back, I didn’t know that Gifty had completed her interview, so I mistook the next guest for Gifty because I didn’t get closer to the TV set but listened to the interview.
