Nana Addo will win election 2020 hands down – Rawlings

A former president of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings has said that from the way the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is governing the country it is impossible for the party to lead the country for just one term.

The founder of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) said this when media personality Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi popularly referred to as Bola Ray called on him to officially invite him to the launch of his biography.

“These people think they can unseat this man [Akufo-Addo] in 2020?” Rawlings asked.

“You think it’s not possible?” Bola Ray questioned.

“NPP? After only four years? No!” Rawlings replied.

“You think they are going for eight years?” Bola Ray asked in a follow-up.

Rawlings answered in the affirmative.

“If they do well in enough… And so far it doesn’t look too bad,” he emphasised.

Rawlings, after he handed over power in 2000, has always called for the Presidents of Ghana to fight corruption and also ensure discipline among their appointees and the general public.

He has however had reasons to criticise previous administrations including that of his party.

He seems satisfied with the achievements and efforts of the Nana Addo-led government so far.

But he believes there is more room for improvement.
