The Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has revealed what his biggest day of shame is to the general public.

In an interview with Joy News, the Majority Leader said that on the occasion of his 60th birthday his little son was asked to come up and say something special about his father.

However, the little boy walked up to the stage and asked those present to celebrate his father to persuade his father (the Majority Leader) to come early. The boy added that the family needed to spend time with their father.

The lawmaker said after his son said this, “I was so shame-faced.”

“The earliest time I leave my office is 9 pm but the usual time I leave is 10 pm or 11 pm and to that extent you won’t have quality time with your family and my wife is always complaining, and I was so much shame-faced when last year into my 60th year anniversary the opportunity was given to my children to come and say something about me at the event. The young boy who came said to all of them that they should persuade his father ‘to come home early and spend time with the family, he is not having time family,” the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs recounted.

He said this got him to change. He decided to make an effort to spend more time with his family after his son made that comment.

“I was so shame-faced. Ever since then I changed. Before then I use to leave home around 5:30 am and quarter to 6 to get to the office around 6 am, 6:30 am. Sometimes when I decide to go to the constituency, or probably attend a workshop over the weekend they don’t get to see me at all.. sometimes about a month and they haven’t seen their dad which certainly is not the best. I am cutting down my busy schedule,” he said.
