Bawumia denies knowledge of posters announcing 2020 election bid

In a statement signed by the Communications Director of the Vice President, Frank Agyei-Twum he said the perpetrators who want to cause disaffection for Dr Bawumia has failed.

The Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said that he is not the brain behind the posters that have emerged of him contesting as a presidential aspirant for election 2020 on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“It is clear that the perpetrator(s) of this act intends to cause disaffection for the Vice President but their campaign will fail.”

The statement further called on the general public to disregard such posters.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state unequivocally that the posters are the figment of the imagination of the originator(s), and we call on all Ghanaians and the general public to treat the poster campaign with the contempt it deserves.”

Posters with the image of Dr Bawumia as a presidential aspirant for election 2020 on the ticket of the governing NPP have emerged, raising some public concerns.

The nicely-printed posters have since gone viral on social media.

The posters have a big picture of smiling Bawumia, who is wearing a smock with the inscription "A northern Muslim with the competency to lead NPP into the election 2020.”
