Kwesi Pratt slams NPA boss over fuel price increase

Kwesi Pratt has expressed shock at Moses Asaga at the way he was shamelessly defending the fuel price increases.

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has taken a swipe at the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Moses Asaga for using “childish mathematical methods” in calculating the latest fuel price hikes.

He chided the NPA boss for saying that fuel prices in Germany were higher than prices Ghanaians were paying and that they should not complain.

Speaking on Accra-based Atinka FM, he expressed shock at the way Moses Asaga was shamelessly defending the fuel price increases “despite his double Masters’ degree from a renowned University in the USA)

“I am very shocked at the Kindergarten tactics employed by Moses Asaga and the like to justify the current fuel hikes. What is the minimum wage in Germany? Everything Mr. Asaga has said about the fuel increment is false. The NDC government used the issue of fuel increment to campaign against the then NPP government,” Mr Pratt opined.

Like many pundits and financial analysts, Kwesi Pratt does not seem to understand why the NPA has chosen to increase fuel prices when the world price for crude oil has dropped from USD120.00 to less than USD50.00 since the last quarter of 2014.

He debunked Mr. Asaga’s assertion that fuel prices needed to be increase because the cedi was performing poorly against the dollar.

“He is bringing back that same old discredited formula which was useful in the days when the price of crude oil was down. If Moses Asaga holds a Master’s Degree, how can he fail this simple mathematics,” Mr Pratt queried.
