Police threaten to halt activities of Azorka Boys

The Northern Regional Commander, Ken Isaac Yeboah,  who made this comments to journalists in the Region, singled out vigilante groups affiliated to specific political parties for emphasis, saying they would not be tolerated in the area.

Some groups such as Azorka Boys, believed to be affiliated to the rulling National Democratic Congress, and the Invisible Forces of the New Patriotic Party have made the news for the wrong reasons in the past, due to reportedly violent behavior in the region associated with political activity.

DCOP Yeboah said groups like Azorka Boys, Kandaha boys, Aluta Boys and Gbewah Boys had been found to be related to many disturbances in the area, which, if not checked, can pose a threat to peaceful elections in the Northern Region come December 7.

“if any of those groups or any individual commits any crime, we shall deal with the full rigors of the law”, he said.

DCOP Yeboah, who is chairman of the Northern Regional Security Taskforce expressed his disappointment at the absence of the NDC and NPP at the meeting held over the weekend to brief key stakeholders on the state of security in the region towards the December 7 general elections.

The meeting was also to take stakeholder input in maintaining peace and security can be better maintained before, during and after the elections.
