The internal wrangling in NPP, according to pundits, has reached a crisis point after the party’s Upper East regional chairman, Adams Mahama died following an acid attack last week
Former National Organizer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan says his party is prepared to help the New Patriotic Party (NPP) resolve their increasing internal wrangling.
According to him, the plan to impeach the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong will only deepen the cracks in the party.
“I think they need our help because some time ago we had a similar challenge though not to this magnitude. We solved our problem amicably and if this is what they need in order to end their crisis, why not, we will help them because they are our family...we are all Ghanaians and we will help so that Ghana can progress,” he said on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia.
The internal wrangling in NPP, according to pundits, has reached a crisis point after the party’s Upper East regional chairman, Adams Mahama died following an acid attack last week. Fingers are already pointing at Mr. Afoko and Mr. Agyepong as masterminds of the murder, but the duo have denied any involvement. Council of Elders of the party have asked the two to step aside but Mr. Agyepong maintains he will never resign.
Some members of the party fear the internal crisis played out in the media is destroying the party’s chances in the 2016 general elections.
Meanwhile, one of the suspects in the Adams Mahama murder case, Gregory Afoko has been remanded to police custody.
