Acid attack on Mahama "satanic" - Minority leader

Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu says the acid attack on Adams Mahama is “satanic.”

The Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has described the acid attack on the Upper East regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Adams Mahama as “satanic.”

Speaking on the floor of the House, Wednesday, the MP for Suame Constituency questioned how people can easily access the corrosive substance to commit heinous crimes in Ghana.

“Let justice be administered as speedily as practicable to still the waters,” he said. “That may be an appeasement of some sort at least,” he added.

The late regional chairman was acid-attacked near his residence last Wednesday and died subsequently at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital. He was buried last Saturday.

Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, however, called on authorities to control the importation of acid substance and find out the purposes for which they are brought into the country.

He said Mahama was “a man of courage who died of man's cruelty.”

The legislator said the people are calling for justice and asked that justice is delivered speedily to forestall any such acts. He prayed to the good Lord to “grant Mahama a peaceful rest.”
