One more suspect in Adams Mahama's death arrested

The police have arrested one more person in connection with the murder of the NPP Upper East regional chairman.

One more suspect involved in connection with the murder of Adams Mahama, former Upper East Regional Chairman of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been arrested.

The Public Relations officer (PRO) of the Upper East Regional Police Command, ASP Thomas Agbanyo confirmed the arrest to Citi News.

“The other man is still on the run, and we are still following him to get him arrested. So far we have arrested another person in addition to the first one arrested for abetment of crime,” he said.

ASP Agbanyo said the suspect “has also been sent to Accra for interrogation but the real suspect mentioned by the deceased has not been arrested so we are still looking for him.”

It would be recalled that the NPP chairman was returning from his construction site late in the night on May 20, 2015 when he was attacked with acid by two unknown men.

A younger brother of the NPP's national chairman Gregory Afoko has been charged with murder and remanded into police custody as one of the two assailants who killed Adams Mahama. Read more
