A renowned Constitutional lawyer, Professor Stephen Kwaku Asare says the neutrality of the newly appointed chair of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei is doubtful.

Speaking on Starr FM’s , Prof. Asare stated that there is evidence that the mother of two, during her days as chair of the National Commission on Civic Education used her platform to favour the late President John Mills and the then vice President John Mahama when they boycotted an Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) debate in 2012.

“There is evidence that she sought to use the NCCE, when she was chairperson, to provide then President Mills and then vice President John Mahama platforms to propagate their message when they opted to boycott the IEA debate,” Prof. Asare said while commenting on Mrs. Osei's appointment as new EC chair.

President John Dramani Mahama, in accordance with Article 70(2) of the 1992 Constitution, appointed Mrs. Charlotte Osei as Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
