The Tax Payers Alliance of Ghana has raised grave concerns over what it describes as inadequate information on government's tax policy in the 2016 Budget. Prior to the budget reading on Friday, September 13th 2015, the alliance released a statement detailing their expectations to government as far as tax policy is concerned. The alliance demanded among other things that government scraps off 17.5% VAT charges on essential services.

 

Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has indicated that nobody needs a certificate to fight corruption in Ghana. He says his permit from the Interior Ministry to work as an investigative company is enough. He was responding to claims by former Attorney-General Martin Amidu that he is unlicensed to undertake undercover investigations.

 

Ghanaian workers at the construction site of the Kejetia Terminal have laid down their tools in protest over what they described as bad conditions of service.

The aggrieved workers told Graphic.com.gh that management has not only delayed in migrating them from casual workers status to permanent staff it has also refused to allow them form unions.

 

Nigeria's telecommunications regulator has refused to lower the 5.2 billion dollar fine against MTN Nigeria. The regulator however agreed to extend the Monday deadline it originally gave the mobile operator by which it has to pay the fine. Pulse Business gathers the 5.2 billion dollar fine which was imposed on MTN Nigeria  was due to a failure to disconnect unregistered customers.
