MPs-elect register today

According to a statement issued by Kate Addo, the deputy head of Public Affairs for Parliament, first-time MPs will be taken through an orientation on parliamentary proceedings.

There are over 100 first-time new parliamentarians in the new session of Parliament due to come into force in January 2017.

The new entrants to parliament include Zanetor Rawlings (Member of Parliament-elect for Klottey Korle Constituency), George Andah ((Member of Parliament-elect for Awutu Senya West Constituency), Ama Sey (Member of Parliament-elect Akwatia Constituency) and Vincent Sowah Odotei (Member of Parliament-elect for La Dade Kotopon Constituency)

Registration is taking place on Monday through to Wednesday December 23.

"Members will be registered and issued with Identification Cards that will enable them to vote for the selection of a Speaker and other officials for the 7th Parliament. All Honourable Members-elect are therefore requested to note the following to enable a smooth and accurate recording of their data" – the statement said.

Three names have emerged to be the next Speaker of Parliament for the commencement of the Seventh Parliament of Ghana.

Politicians Prof. Oquaye, Freddie Blay and Joe Ghartey are widely believed to be in the running to succeed Edward Doe Adjaho as the next Speaker of Parliament.
