Mahama condemns abuse of social media

President John Mahama said majority of our young people are using social media well but there're a few who are also misusing it

President John Dramani Mahama has condemned the abuse of social media by some youth in the country.

According to him, people are taking advantage of the anonymous nature of social media to post things that “are unacceptable like pornography...and to concoct stories” which he said is unacceptable.

He said "Majority of our young people are using social media well but there're a few who are also misusing it."

The President said majority of Ghanaians are using social media in the right way to improve their businesses and relations with people adding that, "When I have a bit of time I respond to some of the messages I receive on social media."

Speaking in an interview with Unique FM Wednesday, President Mahama urged the youth to be more innovative and develop more applications that would help shapen the future.

He added that a lot of our young people are taking advantage of the ICT revolution.

He added that government is ready to support anyone who develops an innovative application.
