PURC to consult stakeholders over tariff review

The Commission has hinted of undertaking a major tariff review “to see movements in the current electricity and water tariffs being paid by consumers”

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced its intention to conduct nationwide public hearings and stakeholder consultations on the major tariff review it wants to undertake.

The Commission has hinted of undertaking a major tariff review “to see movements in the current electricity and water tariffs being paid by consumers”.

The public hearings and stakeholder consultations, in a statement signed by Nana Yaa Jantuah, the Director of Public Relations and External Affairs at PURC, will afford “consumers and the general public to make inputs into and contribute to the proposals for a tariff adjustment that would be presented by the utility service providers.

“These public hearings are going to be held in regional capitals and consumers and the general public are invited to attend.”

The main aim of this tariff review, according to the Commission, is to factor in the price of the generating plants being built by government to end the loadshedding exercise.
