A 23-year-old mechanic has been put before an Accra Circuit Court after being accused of defiling his brother’s seven-year-old daughter.

The court presided over by Mrs Marian Affoh admitted Salifu to bail in the sum of GHs 30,000 cedis with two sureties to reappear on May 22.

According to the prosecutor, Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire, the complainant is a mechanic, as well as, a biological father of the victim.

The accused person is the junior brother of the complainant while the victim is a Kindergarten two pupil who lives with her parents at Weija, Accra.

However, the prosecution said that on April 22 this year, at about 4:15 am the accused person, Salifu, was spotted at the complainant’s house.

When Salifu was questioned by the complainant, he indicated that he had come to look for a place to sleep.

The prosecution said that the complainant decided to allow Salifu to sleep in the victim and her siblings’ room whiles he escorts his wife to the lorry station.

Salifu agreed and slept over but the complainant did not find him on his return.

The complainant’s wife, however, on April 28 detected some changes in the way the victim walked and therefore decided to question her.

When the victim was asked why, she indicated that Salifu had sex with her when he spent the night with them.

The complainant reported the matter to the Police and the victim was issued with a Police Medical Report to seek medical attention. The report confirmed that she had been defiled. Salifu was subsequently arrested.
