The Electoral Commission (EC) has set July 7, 2015 for the bye-election at Talensi in the Upper East region.
This was contained in a statement by the EC issued in Accra Friday after the Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho declared the seat vacant.
The outgone MP, Robert Doameng Monsore resigned as MP after been enskinned the Paramount Chief of the Tolon Traditional area.
The constitution bars traditional rulers from engaging in active partisan politics.
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be seeking to retain the seat while the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is working assiduously to snatch it to consolidate their numbers in Parliament.
