Korle Bu sacks 4 employees over GHc900,000 fraud

The board, in a statement indicated that its “decision is without prejudice to the ongoing criminal investigations being carried out by the Economic and Organised Crime Organisation in respect of the unaccounted for funds.”

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Board has terminated with immediate effect, the appointment of some of its employees due to what it described as “gross incompetence and dereliction of duty in the management and day-to-day operations” of its pharmacy.

Following a forensic audit commissioned by the Ministry of Health in 2014 which establishedthat an amount of Gh₵946,574.29 could not be accounted for from sales revenue at the 24-Hour Pharmacy, an administrative enquiry commissioned by the board subsequentlyestablished the culpability of the four individuals.

They are Elizabeth Bruce, Director of Pharmacy and also Director of 24-Hour Pharmacy, Eric Kwaku Kyei, Principal Pharmacist/ Pharmacy Manager, Augustina Dankyi, Pharmacy Accountant and Daniel Eledi, Stores Assistant.

The board thus, convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday June 17, 2015 and decided to terminate the appointment of the four individuals.
