Fire Service denies claims of mass resignation

Media reports suggested that the mass resignation was because the Chief Fire Officer Dr Albert Gaisey, was keeping rent allowances meant for the staff of the service amongst others.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the service Prince Billy Anaglatey said “sincerely; I can say for a fact that there is absolutely nothing like people tendering their resignation”.

The media reports suggested that the mass resignation was because the Chief Fire Officer Dr Albert Gaisey was keeping rent allowances meant for the staff of the service. It also accused him of selling the uniforms and boots of the service illegally.

But Anaglatey refuted these claims saying it was meant to cause public disaffection for the Chief Fire Officer.

"There is no iota of truth in it. We have the rent allowance that has been used as a revolving money that people are given and deducted at source, and after those people have paid, then it goes to another group so it is revolving, and it’s not true that the Chief Fire Officer has pocketed the money," he told pulse.com.gh

The reports also added that the transfer of staff had become the punishment for complaining about the happenings in the service. But Anaglatey denied this accusation saying “everyone is transferred to other stations when it is deemed fit, you can’t stay at one location all your working life.”
