The atmosphere within the Northern regional town of Bimbila is that of uneasiness, as the Gbugmayili family has vowed to resist the burial of the mortal remains of the late Nakpa Naa Salifu Dawumi in the town, following government’s decision to prepare grounds for the late chief.

The family further argues that according to their customs, the late Nakpa Naa was not Bimbila Naa, therefor they would resist any attempt by the Regional Security Council to bury his corpse in the Gbugmayili cemetery.

They added that the late chief never succeeded the Bimbila Paramountcy.

Spokesperson for the Gbugmayili family, Tahidu Osman-Kikaa, alleged in a press conference held in Accra on Wednesday, October 11 that, the family sees it as a deliberate attempt by the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo-led administration to create anarchy in Bimbilla. Tahidu Osman-Kikaa maintained that "this move by the President is not in conformity with our traditions".
