A dead whale drew huge crowds to the Tettekope beach in Keta in the Volta Region after it washed ashore on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.
It is still unclear what led to the death of the whale.
However, a chief fisherman in the locality, Seth Kedey, told Cififmonline.com that the mammal could have been hit by a large vessel.
A Wildlife Officer in the Keta Municipality, Abdul Karim Fuseini, said the whale was about 39 feet long and 16 feet in height.
Scores of residents who were amazed at the sight of the whale, thronged to the coastline to catch a glimpse of it.
Residents have, however, been advised not to eat the animal since the cause of death is unclear.
Ghana in 2013 and 2014 experienced a number of incidents where dead whales have washed ashore in various parts of the country.
