According to him, his predecessor left behind a debt of ten GH¢10 million for the supply of chalk, while feeding grants for special schools like School for the Deaf struggled to feed students as GH¢4 million debt was left at the Ministry.

The breakdown of the debt listed by Matthew Opoku follows:

Feeding Grants for Colleges of Education – GH¢36 million

Feeding Grants for Special Schools – GH¢4.7 million

Senior High School Subsidy – GH¢24 million
