A 32-year-old man at Asuakoso a suburb of Akyem Hemang in the Eastern Region has died after he tried drinking 2 bottles of locally distilled gin popularly referred to as ‘Akpeteshie’.
Kwame Asirifi aka Kwame Yaayaa was promised a reward of GHC 30 if he is able to drink 2 bottles of Akpeteshie.
The Assemblyman of the area, Johnson Appiah told Accra-based Class FM that, the deceased was challenged by a fellow colleague leading to his death.

Kwame Asirifi collapsed few minutes after he finished the second bottle than he collapsed.
Some thought he was feigning his collapse until they realized the situation was becoming more serious than they thought prompting the attention of the assemblyman who directed his wife to give him some food.
When they realised he was not getting any better, they rushed him to Hawa memorial hospital where he died shortly on admission

The Assemblyman said they have lodged an official complaint with the police who have commenced investigations into the matter to establish the actual cause of death.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of the two persons reported to have dared him to drink the bottles of gin in return for the paltry amount is unknown.
But the police is looking for them to help solve the puzzle of his death.
