It's 'unacceptable' for police to kill suspects – Muntaka

The MP for Asawase, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka was contributing to discussions in parliament on Friday, November 10, 2017, after two suspects in police custody were killed by officers on Thursday.

The Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has said that he is “really devastated” by the news that two suspects in police custody were shot and killed in the Ashanti Region.

Muntaka who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase said but for his intervention, some of his constituents were gathering to retaliate.

“Last night I heard there was a lot of massing up at Aboabo in my constituency.”

“Mr Speaker, my biggest worry is that all of us can be picked up one time or the other as suspects but to die in the custody of the police cannot be accepted,” he added.

The two, Lukeman Mohammed and Awudu Osman were gunned down by officers on Thursday, November 9 after they allegedly attempted to escape from custody.

Meanwhile, Minister for the Interior Ambrose Dery has been summoned to appear before Parliament to answer questions in connection with the shooting and killing of the two suspects.
