The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said the "accident occurred about 5:10pm Thursday when the driver travelling from Koforidua to Accra on reaching a section of the road at Aburi ‘Y’ junction veered off its lane into the offside lane and crushed into a Nissan Amera taxi also with registration Number GR 4069-12."

He said the driver who lost control of the steering wheel further went off the road into an abandoned filling station and knocked the three (3) children.
Meanwhile, the suspect, 24-year-old driver identified as Mendy Agyekum Boateng has reported himself to the Police and has been detained and the car impounded.
