At a press conference in Accra, Mr Amewu asked that the staff of the school be reassigned in the commission until the problem is solved.

“I direct the management of the Lands Commission to ensure that the staff at the school should be re-assigned other duties that would effectively support the agenda to reduce the turnaround time in land title registration in the country.”

The students clashed with construction workers, who were working on an office complex for the Lands Commission.

However, the students have sworn to prevent any development on the land. They claim the land is being developed into a shopping mall.

But Mr Amewu said that the site has been handed over to the contractors and that “unauthorised persons are not to be permitted on the premises and the contractors to take full responsibility of the site.”
