One person is feared dead, one missing and several others injured after a school bus fell into a valley near Lake Bosomtwe between Abono and Kuntanase in the Ashanti region on Monday evening.
The Bosomtwe District Police Commander, ASP Isaac Obo-Takyi, told Graphic Online that the accident occurred around 5pm on Monday when the students and some tutors from the Afia Kobi Nursing Training School at Tafo Nhyiaeso in Kumasi were on their way to the Lake Bosomtwe Resort at Abono.

According to him, the driver of the school, on reaching a section of the road, lost control and plunged the vehicle into the valley about 150 meters down.
He said the police with support from the Ashanti Regional Fire Service were able to rescue all others except one who cannot be located and another who was still trapped under the vehicle.
The rescue team left the scene after 10 pm after their efforts to recover the body from the valley proved futile.
ASP Obo-Takyi said that the plan now is to get a heavy duty crane lift the vehicle from the spot before the trapped person could be removed.
Over 40 persons who are seriously injured are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals.
Nineteen of them are at the Kuntanase Government Hospital, 20 at the St Michael Hospital at Pramso and one at the Accident and Emergency Centre at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
