JUSSAG resolves to continue strike

Addressing the press after a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting Tuesday, President of JUSSAG, Alex Nartey said they need to revert to government over certain issues.

"Yesterday, we met the minister in a bid to find closure to this issue but it was subject to the national executive council meeting today [Tuesday May 31]," Nartey said.

"We have met and we have identified certain issues that we need to revert to government. As we speak, we have not called off the strike," he said.

On Monday, May 30, 2016, the minister of employment Haruna Iddrisu told the media progress has been made and that government was confident JUSSAG will call of its strike action for negotiations to resume on Wednesday.

Nartey noted that Iddrisu's confident was true "except that issues of this nature, we need to be exhostive."

"The NEC has resolved to go back to the relevant authorities on the outstanding issues."

According to him, JUSSAG at it NEC meeting Tuesday agreed on some proposals for negotiations with government.

JUSSAG has been on strike since Friday 20th May 2016 over what they say is government's failure to implement the new agreed consolidation of their salaries and allowances.

JUSSAG embarked on a similar strike but was called off after assurances by Haruna Iddrisu the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations to ensure the implementation of the new salaries.

But two months afterwards the judicial service workers are accusing government of showing a lackadaisical attitude towards their demands and cannot hold on further for their demands.
