Outsiders Give Information To Prisoners

Mr Mark Woyongo has blame outsiders for the recent scuffle which occured at the Kumasi Central Prison where prisoners attempted jailbreak.

The Minister of Interior, Mark Woyongo has blamed outsiders of instigating the attempted jailbreak at the Kumasi Central prisons.

Some of the prisoners last week who attempted to escape from prison were hit by gunshot and feared dead as heavily armed police and prison guards responded to the prison break to restore calm.

Some of the inmates attacked the prison guards with bricks, stones, sachet water and other objects.

Mr Woyongo paid a visit to the Kumasi Central prisons to ascertain the extent of damage caused by the riot.

He added that preliminary investigations have revealed that the attempted jailbreak was a well-orchestrated one.

“It was a well-planned jailbreak, fortunately for us it didn’t go through because I am told there were cars standing around to pick some of the prison inmates. That is why they were trying to break the walls,” Woyongo said.

Mr. Woyongo stressed the need for a thorough investigation to be conducted into the issue so that all those who had a hand in the act could be dealt with accordingly.
